Why reframe

Same craft, new tempo.

The established methods taught generations of architects to think in systems, and that foundation stands. What's changed is the tempo around it: strategy moves in quarters, technology in weeks. Reframe EA is about practising the craft at that speed: creating visible value, responding fast, and adapting as things move.

Value, made visible

Architecture proves itself in what it changes: decisions accelerated, risks caught early, capabilities shipped. When the value is visible, the seat at the table takes care of itself.

Answers at business tempo

The best guidance arrives while the decision is still open. A lightweight, continuous practice keeps architecture in the room when direction is set, in days and weeks, not quarters.

Built to adapt

Organisations, technology, and AI keep moving. Architecture is how you change without breaking. Designing for change itself is becoming the defining skill of the decade.

Principles

Six commitments. No fine print.

Everything in Reframe EA is tested against these six lines. If it doesn't serve them, it doesn't ship.

  • Decisions over documents

Architecture exists to make better decisions faster. A document is only useful the moment it changes one.

  • Outcomes over artefacts

The measure of an architecture team is what changed in the business because of its work. Outcomes are the deliverable.

  • Continuous over ceremonial

Architecture is a practice you run every week, at the pace of delivery, so guidance stays as current as the work it serves.

  • Evidence over authority

Positions are argued from data, prototypes, and observed outcomes. Titles don't settle technical arguments; evidence does.

  • Guardrails over gates

Good architecture makes the right path the easy path, so teams move fast and safely at the same time.

  • Open over enclosed

The body of knowledge is openly licensed, versioned in public, and free to use. Ideas get better when anyone can inspect them.

Reframe Core

Five moves, run continuously.

A lightweight operating loop for architecture teams. It scales to the decision at hand without changing shape.

1Sense

Read the landscape: strategy, constraints, signals from teams and the market.

2Frame

Define the decision that matters and what "good" would mean.

3Decide

Choose a direction with trade-offs on the table and owners on the record.

4Enable

Turn direction into guardrails and paved roads teams can use.

5Prove

Measure what changed. Feed the evidence back into the loop.

Certification

Credentials that measure practice.

Three levels, one rule: every assessment is built from realistic scenarios, and higher levels require evidence of real work.
